Shopper marketing agency in Sydney — retail campaign planning by Bamboo Marketing

Shopper Marketing Agency in Sydney

By August 20th, 2026

Bamboo Marketing is a Sydney shopper marketing agency. Since 2004 we have designed the promotions and in-store experiences that move shoppers from noticing a brand to buying it — the work that sits between a brand’s marketing team, the retailer’s category manager, and the person standing in the aisle with about three seconds to decide.

A shopper marketing agency isn’t a creative studio that happens to make point-of-sale. The job is to work the whole triangle: what the brand wants, what the retailer will actually range and support, and what the shopper will notice and act on. Get one of those wrong and the promotion fails quietly — approved, produced, and ignored.

What does a shopper marketing agency do?

A shopper marketing agency turns a brand’s commercial objective into something a retailer will back and a shopper will respond to. In practice that spans shopper strategy, promotional mechanic design, retailer and category planning, in-store and experiential activation, and — the part most agencies hand off — the execution and fulfilment underneath a promotion. We start every brief with one question: what single job is this promotion meant to do? That’s the One Job Rule, and most of the good decisions follow from the answer.

Strategy that starts with the shopper, not the shelf

Our thinking is grounded in a working model we call The Shelf. It includes the 3-Second Equation — reward and belief over friction, the quiet calculation a shopper makes without realising it — and the discipline of designing for one objective rather than kitchen-sinking five. In plain terms, it’s the difference between “make us some POS” and “here’s where conversion is breaking down, and here’s the offer that fixes it.”

The retailer is the other customer

Shopper work lives or dies on whether the retailer will support it. That means talking the language of joint business planning, range reviews and category strategy — and understanding that the category manager at Coles, Woolworths or Metcash has a different set of pressures than the brand’s marketing team. We spend as much time designing a promotion the retailer will say yes to as one the shopper will like. Our framework for that pitch is S.O.S. — Simple, Operational, Sales.

From strategy to the shelf — including the plumbing

Where Bamboo is unusual is that we don’t stop at the idea. The mechanics that make a promotion actually work — cashback and gift-with-purchase, instant win and prize draws, purchase-to-enter, receipt validation, prize modelling and fulfilment, promotional permits and legals, redemption and reporting — are run end to end through our sister company Trevor Services, a Salesforce-native promotional fulfilment platform. Strategy and execution under one roof, rather than a clever idea handed over with crossed fingers.

Work and credibility

We’ve designed shopper and promotional campaigns for Suntory Oceania brands (V Energy, Boss Coffee, Maximus), Weet-Bix, Cointreau, Electrolux and McGuigan Wines, among others, across grocery, liquor, convenience and mass retail. Our Maximus and Cointreau campaigns were both recognised at the Shop! ANZ Retail Marketing Awards.

A Sydney agency, working nationally

Bamboo Marketing is based in Sydney and works with brands and their retail partners around Australia. If you’re weighing up shopper marketing agencies in Sydney, the questions worth asking any of us are simple: is shopper genuinely your core business, or a line on a longer list; and can you take an idea all the way to the shelf, or only to the artwork?

What makes Bamboo different from other Sydney shopper agencies?

Two things. First, shopper marketing is the whole business here, not a service line bolted onto an advertising or experiential shop — it’s what we’ve done since 2004. Second, we own the execution as well as the strategy, so the mechanic we recommend is one we can actually deliver, permits, prize fulfilment and all. That combination — a clear point of view about what will change behaviour at the shelf, plus the plumbing to make it happen — is rarer than it should be.

If you’re rethinking how you show up at the shelf, we’d welcome that conversation.
